Accessibility Statement

Painting Your Art Out aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard U.S. courts and the Department of Justice use as the benchmark for websites. We test against WCAG 2.2 AA where it goes further. Painting is something anyone should be able to book, and a website that locks people out is a bad way to run a paint party company.

We do not use an accessibility overlay widget. Overlays do not fix the underlying markup, and we would rather fix the site itself.

What is in place

• A skip-to-content link as the first item you reach with the Tab key
• A single main landmark on every page, with a language set on the document
• Visible focus outlines on every link, button, and form field
• Tap targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels on buttons
• Animation that stops when your system asks for reduced motion
• Labels on every form field, announced by screen readers
• Text labels on icon-only controls, and decorative icons hidden from screen readers
• Page zoom to 200 percent without loss of content
• FAQ answers rendered open rather than inside collapsed accordions

Gaps we know about

Listing these is more useful than claiming the site is perfect. As of the date above:

• The share controls on blog posts are grouped in a container that screen readers announce as a labelled region rather than a toolbar. The individual share links themselves work with a keyboard.
• Muted body text can fall near the 4.5 to 1 contrast minimum on some colour themes. The default theme is tested. If you switch themes with the picker, contrast may drop.
• Some third-party embeds, including payment and mapping widgets, are outside our control and may not meet the same standard.
